letters to Surfers

Your models seem very cold to me. They miss the warmth and richness of personal faith.

It is true that models can never capture all the feelings that go with the item that is descibed. A model that exactly captures the design of a Porsche never gets anywhere near the feelings that go with owning a Porsche and driving it. But the feeling of driving a Porsche does not exist apart from the design of the car. Religious models only set out a person's explanation for the logic of his or her faith. And many people experience God without being able to explain what they feel.
